Allied Health Assistant Programs

Working under the guidance and supervision of our therapists, our Allied Health Assistants support children through 1:1 sessions and group programs to help them to learn, practice and master their skills.

All our Allied Health Assistant programs are goals focused, and are often utilised to when repetition of a specific task or activity is necessary for consolidation or mastery of a skill.

Sessions with our Allied Health Assistants may take place in a variety of settings, including your child’s home, school or daycare, or in relevant community settings.

Our Allied Health Assistants also run or help with group programs, and support therapy indirectly by creating resources such as visual schedules, social stories, or communication aids, or commencing reports for therapists.

Some benefits of having an Allied Health Assistant as part of your child’s therapy supports include:

  • Our Allied Health Assistant sessions can be more cost-effective than sessions with a therapist as the hourly rate is lower. This means your child can access more frequent supports for a lower or same cost.

  • Our Allied Health Assistants are often able to see children more quickly than therapists due to the very high demand on therapy services. This means that your child can access regular supports more quickly.

  • Our Allied Health Assistant programs typically focus on helping your child to develop, build or master their functional skills, and are held in your child’s natural environments such as home, daycare or school. This helps your child to more readily transition to using those skills in their everyday life

  • Your child’s Allied Health Assistant will be liaising constantly and taking guidance from all of your child’s Move and Play therapists. This means that your child’s Allied Health Assistant will be able to implement strategies from all of your child’s therapists, providing cross disciplinary or whole child care.

  • While your child is receiving an Allied Health Assistant Program, their program and progress will continue to be monitored and supported by one or more qualified Allied Health Professionals. This means that your child will continue to receive high quality care, and any issues can be addressed in a timely matter if they arise.
